Ernest and Bartok break into Vera’s corporate headquarters. This means Ernest stands around while Bortok applies Mysterious Coloured Chemicals™ to a Great Big Safe. (Finally proving, once and for all, that Ernest really is not MacGyver, although Bartok might be.) They find hard evidence of how Vera bribed the governor, and decide to turn it over to the press.

I’m only covering this in detail because it means I get to use this shot.

“It’s unethical. It’s immoral. It’s how we built this great nation. But it’s not illegal.”

Due to Strangely Convenient Timing™, this means Vera has to get rid of the homesteaders within the next week, before Colorado become a state, or her Plans Will Be Foiled. So she sends Silas and his bully-boys out on a rampage. There’s shooting and explosions, and the homesteaders send for help – in other words, Legend!

Bartok’szat Electro-Fulminator is effective as well as showy.

Silas’ gang is overcome, and he demonstrates his Supreme Villainy by running out on them, and grabbing a Cute Little Girl™ as a hostage.

Ernest gives chase. Alert watchers will have noticed that events are now paralleling the opening scene of the show, which ended with Legend getting shot (on paper).

One major shortcoming of this part of the episode is that there aren’t nearly enough close-ups of RDA. So here’s an extra one.

Tomorrow: the Thrilling Denoument!
