Ha ha -- whenever I see this scene, I wonder who the heck installed that giant fork and spoon on his wall. Definitely not something I see Jack picking up at Target.
I thought of that, but they lived in a different house (at least from the flashback pictures), and I assume she is still there. So he would have had to move, and install, the giant fork and spoon after that. I don't really see it.
Hmmmm, unless maybe the house Jack's living in now was their vacation home or something? But it's not in a vacation area. Actually I guess we don't really know where Jack & Sara lived before the Stargate program -- could've been anywhere there's an AF installation. Apparently, I never really thought this through. ;-) But then that would mean that they just so happened to have a vacation home near Colorado Springs -- great place, but that would be pretty coincidental.
No wait -- their original home must have been in/near Colorado Springs because when the "blue-crystal Jack" comes to the SGC, he gets over to their home pretty easily. Doesn't seem like he would've taken a plane, or even driven. And the team gets to the hospital fast, when he starts going all electric. Hmmmm.
Got it! Thanks for searching that out! (I checked the screencaps on Gateworld, since my DVDs are, sadly, 2000 miles away.)
Now I'm thinking that one day Jack actually looked up while he was walking into the kitchen and said, "WTF?!?" and that was the end of the giant fork and spoon.
Maybe he bought the house furnished . . . or maybe a friend (if he had any?) put it up as a gag and Jack didn't noticefor 7 years!! ;-)
Can you just imagine the conversation over the phone?
JACK: Hey Bob, it's Jack. Yeah, hi. Um, just wondering something. Were you the one that put up a gigantic spoon and fork in my dining room? Bob? Stop laughing will ya. Yes, I just noticed it. Well, I'm kinda gone for long stretches sometimes. It's not like I really pay attention to this kind of stuff...."
Ha ha ha! You totally nailed that phone call. Oh my.
And now I just remembered that he has at least some friends, or guys he hangs out with sometimes anyway, -- you know, outside of the SGC -- because of the episode where ... oh, who was it? not Maybourne; it was the guy with the white hair ... was sittin' in Jack's livingroom as he came in with a couple of cases of Heineken (one case of bottles and one of cans -- who does that?), and Jack called the local sheriff, on his cellphone after Kinsey -- oh, it was Kinsey! -- cut the landline line, and switched from reporting the break-in to confirming the poker game. Anyway.
Ha ha -- true possibility! Then, when he bought a smartphone so he could text his new high school girlfriends, he called Jack and said: BTW, dude, that giant fork and spoon totally rock! ;-)
