Hee! Again, LOVE Mac's hair. I also loved how the actor playing Sam (his name escapes me at the moment) looked like he could really be RDA's son. They have the same jawline and soulful eyes. :-)
LOL - I had a bad reaction to the episode at first. Then I realised I was blaming the story for the fact that the series had ended. Once I'd gotten that out of the way, I realised that it's a really well-done episode, and that I was glad they'd given the series a genuine ending instead of simply stopping. It's still unusual, and it was almost unheard-of back then.
Then I read several post-Stringer fanfics that made Sam into a whiny jerk or a fraud, or shoved him off to the side, or had Mac settling down and getting married (to an author proxy, of course) and being normal, which was the worst of all. So I decided to write my own view of how the story continued -- and ended up loving Sam and being delighted that he'd turned up. This is now one of my favourite episodes; it's one of the first that I ever capped.
Agreed (on all counts) wholeheartedly. Personally, I never had a problem with Mac having a romantic interest. He's young and virile, i.e. highly unlikely he's gonna live like a monk! What bothered me was the fact that he'd had a child and never knew, never got to see him grow up. I thought the writers/producers handled the situation very well, all things considered.
Agree in turn! Not only young and virile, but staggeringly good-looking and a genuinely nice person. He wouldn't even need to do any chasing; all he'd have to do is stand still for five minutes.
I'm assuming that you read Revision when you made your swoop through my stories. I have an idea for another Mac/Sam story, one that would dig a bit more into the why-didn't-she-tell-him angle; I don't know if it will jell.
For some weird reason, Revision got skipped. No idea why or how. I've got it bookmarked and I'm going to rectify that (not reading it, I mean) tonight or tomorrow!
I've been spending the day in air conditioning, reading Mac fanfic. I'm currently plowing through stories by someone named MacsChick at macgyveronline.com....
I'm saving yours for the finale, though. *grins back at you*
That jacket actually isn't the leather one, although that's hard to see in this shot. He does wear the leather jacket in the final scene on the motorcycles. And looks terrific in it, of course.

Date: 2010-06-20 06:30 pm (UTC)I really loved the emotional power of the episode -- they took a given cliché (oo, the Son He Never Knew He Had!) and gave the characters a chance to respond to it as a real event.
