You know, I was watching that ep recently, and thought, 'What the heck is that high-pitched noise?' I had to turn on the DVD commentary to discover that it was RDA, humming.

Is it not the weirdest humming you've ever heard? *g*

1. I think he's specifically humming to simulate the weird "eerie" music that ought to be playing at that particular moment in a movie of the type he's watching. (Correct me if I'm wrong, somebody, but isn't it "The Day the Earth Stood Still", or something? It's a famous, classic scifi B movie, anyway.) In fact, for forever, I just assumed that we were in fact hearing the movie's soundtrack. I didn't get the joke that he was supposed to have the sound on the TV turned off, but he was providing the soundtrack himself. :)

2. God, that shirt (in the ep) is the most inexplicable thing Jack has ever worn. Seriously. There is nothing else he wears that makes it *SO* clear that RDA is color-blind.

1. Yeah, I think you're right. According to the commentary, they got permission for the picture but not the sound. So RDA apparently just decided to hum. It's just... I wasn't even sure that was a human noise, until I checked. *g*

1. That's really strange, that they could get the picture but not the sound! I mean, not that I know much of anything about licensing of stuff like that, but... why *would* you be able to license the picture but not the sound?

2. I think I really did read or hear at some point that because of his red/green color-blindness, yellow and orange are colors he can actually sort of see/enjoy in some way. (I think that when he wears other colors, it's because people have picked them out for him; like the pink you sometimes see him wearing when he's with his daughter. I don't think he can *see* that shade.) *thinks* I did see him talking about it on some interview show once. He said it also explained why he always wore white socks with everything.

1. It does seem a bit pointless. Perhaps it's done separately because these things are sometimes used separately - with other sound replacing it, such as in music videos or ads or whatever - or sometimes in TV/films they don't use the soundtrack because the actors would have to talk over it anyhow... *shrugs* That's my best guess.

2. Excuses, excuses... It's just poor dress sense and laziness if you ask me. ;D

2. I remember seeing him talk about the white socks too.. I have a feeling it *might* have been on Vicky Gabereau? He has the funniest dress sense.. makes me laugh - in a good way!

It's a good commentary, that one. Some of them are OMGboring, but that one's quite interesting. Made me wish I could see the outtakes; I get the impression that Rick and Willie Garson (Martin) were quite funny together.

And I concur - RDA's dress sense makes me laugh in a good way, too. *g*

I don't care what he wears. It's the eyebrow action he's got going. Now I'm going to have to go back and watch the episode yet again. Wasn't he looking at Teal'c?
