Hey guys!

Unfortunately, I did find rules about posting pictures from Avalon on the internet. Therefore, if you went to Avalon, please do not post any pictures from that con here. I don't know if it's Avalon's rule or Rick requested it, but either way, I'll respect it. I know no one means any harm, and I don't really think everyone who actually went to the con got the same message, but I'll delete any post with Avalon pics. Sorry!

I'll try to make a post with a link to the "official" Avalon pics when all of them come out. :)

HOWEVER, if you did go and would like to write up a little report on it, please feel free to post that here, even without a picture. I think we'd all love to hear about Rick and anything else you did on that weekend that was fun. :)

Beg pardon, but that rule is crap. If the event organizers are going to permit people to take pictures during the event, then they have no business trying to tell people what they can or can't do with them later.

I appreciate your decision to respect it. My condemnation is of those who made such a silly rule. Choosing to follow it is most gracious of you, and more than anyone should have a right to expect.

No, it is a rule posted by the Gabit people, AFTER they allowed people in to take photos. It is my understanding people were told, while there, not to post them anywhere. It seems to be the general consensus that the reasn is so that they can produc and promote a book of photos and a a bideo from the event, and market it before all the other photos surface.

In general law the photographer has the copyright, unless the celebrity has an issue, but this was NOT an Amanda/Rick decision. It was Gabit who stated this.

And the reason to obey it is not to appease Gabit, really, but rather to agree to disagree. After all, if everyone who went breaks the rules, who is to say that this would NOT get back to Rick and cause him to not do another convention.

I did not go, so I cannot argue, but I can see a reason to respect their wishes, at least until their money-making effort is put into use. After all, the proceeds of the event went to charity (auction, ticket sales, etc), and they have to make money for these events somewhere.

Hadn't realised it was a Gabit rule, and I have to admit I don't recall at all them announcing anything about it either - but to be fair, my brain wasn't present at the time (it had run off due to extreme nervousness). I will respect their rule, even though I do disagree with it - as someone pointed out, the person who took the pics has copyright and should have the freedom to post them where and when they may. But que sera sera. Hope the official pics etc get release soon so everyone can share in the fun that was had at Avalon.
